About the event
During the 42nd MAPFRE Copa del Rey, workshops were held for children from foundations and our guests took outings on our boats.
Different activities were carried out with our boats:
- Stenella: With the station fully powered, we dedicate each morning to scientific outings, thus completing the data collection for the third edition of the Palma Bay report.
- Galaxie: On the 100% electric sailboat, our guests were able to watch the regatta from the sea and learn about this training sailboat.
- BlueCircle: The 100% electric swallow, like the Galaxie, our guests were able to watch the race from the sea.
For five days, children were able to enjoy and learn through various workshops held during the event.
With the Cleanwave Foundation, the following was carried out:
- Fora plàstics: A story and drawing activity about cleaning up plastics on the beach, promoting reflection and action against pollution.
- Microplastic Analysis and Mural Painting: Activities included analyzing microplastics found in the sea and creating a mural depicting the ideal sea and one affected by pollution.
With the Palma Aquarium Foundation, the following was carried out:
- The Magic of the Sea: An interactive game focused on Mediterranean animals and the threats they face, educating children about marine biodiversity.
- Marine Wildlife Rescue: An interactive game that explained the steps to follow when protected marine wildlife strands in the Balearic Islands, promoting awareness and action in emergency situations.
- Sea Turtle Nesting: This interactive game explained the life cycle of sea turtles and the nesting phenomenon on Spanish beaches, raising children's awareness of the importance of protecting these species.
Additional workshop:
- Knotting Workshop: A hands-on activity where participants learned different types of nautical knots, connecting them with nautical traditions and skills.
