The Trofeo Ciutat de Palma is one of the most prestigious light sailboat regattas. The competition includes the categories Optimist, Laser, Europa, 420, and Bénéteau. Among them, the most spectacular was the Optimist category race, which brought together more than 400 boats.
As part of the actions prepared for the Real Club Nautico of Palma to support its commitment to combating the climate crisis and promoting environmental awareness, Love the Med made the Stenella available to Observadores del Mar to actively participate in research activities during the regatta.
The Stenella was equipped with specialised detection and monitoring instruments to gather evidence of flora and fauna sightings and report them to Observadores del Mar. This citizen science platform collects data on the distribution and abundance of common marine species, the appearance of invasive marine species, or impacts to an ecosystem, that are used in scientific research projects.
