A Unique Experience in Palma Marine Reserve

In an exceptional collaboration between MARE and Love the Mediterranean, we have created an unforgettable experience in Palma's marine reserve. Aboard the Stenella, a zero-emission solar-electric boat, the “Marine Majors” volunteers of the Palma Aquarium Foundation embark on an enriching and educational adventure that highlights the beauty and biodiversity of the Mallorcan coastline.

Species Identification and Underwater Photography

The activity begins with a snorkeling session guided by marine experts, who introduce volunteers to the fascinating underwater world. Equipped with underwater cameras, participants had the opportunity to capture the vibrant marine life of the reserve. During the dive, various species of fish, invertebrates and flora (algae) that are part of the local ecosystem can be observed.

Species identification is a crucial part of this experience. Guided by marine biologists, volunteers learn to recognize and photograph marine fauna and flora, gaining valuable knowledge about the area's biodiversity. This activity not only enriches their understanding of the environment, but also contributes to the reserve's conservation and monitoring efforts.

Participation in the MARE Photography Contest

In addition, photos taken during the outing can be entered in the MARE photography contest, which this year celebrates its fifth edition. This contest not only promotes appreciation of marine beauty, but also raises community awareness of the importance of protecting our oceans.

Promoting Low Impact Tourism

The choice of the Stenella, a zero-emission solar-electric boat, underscores the commitment to a sustainable tourism model. By operating with solar energy, the Stenella minimizes its environmental impact, making it an ideal choice for exploring the marine reserve without disturbing its delicate balance.

The small capacity departures ensure a more intimate and environmentally friendly experience. This approach promotes a conscious and responsible type of tourism that values and protects Mallorca's natural resources.

The collaboration between MARE and Love the Mediterranean, together with the Palma Aquarium Foundation, offers a unique opportunity to connect with nature and learn about the rich biodiversity of Palma's marine reserve. This experience not only educates and inspires volunteers, but also promotes sustainable tourism practices that are essential for the conservation of our Balearic Sea and oceans.

Join us on this adventure and discover the magic of the underwater world while contributing to its protection!
