S/Y Galaxie, formerly associated with the Fundació Joves Navegants, served as a vessel dedicated to providing sailing education for young individuals confronting social challenges. The Foundation aimed to cultivate resilience, unity, and personal growth through shared experiences on the open sea. In 2023, TrueWorld took ownership, ensuring an ongoing contribution to its altruistic endeavors by honoring its original purpose with training programs.
Given that the objective of the Galaxie is to work for the awareness, protection and regeneration of the Balearic Sea, it was considered essential to address electrical repowering in order to reduce the carbon footprint and pollution. For this, we were granted the public call for subsidies for decarbonization of the nautical sector of the Balearic Islands within the actions provided for in the Investment Plan for the Energy Transition of the Balearic Islands, (NextGenerationEU).
TrueWorld, in collaboration with Phoenix One at the Alcudiamar facilities, has successfully replaced the diesel engine, a Volvo Penta MD70B, with a 100% electric motorisation. This system now runs on lithium-ion batteries and is charged using sustainable energy sources. The electric motor enables S/Y Galaxie to navigate emission-free, leaving no marine waste, reducing noise pollution, and avoiding the emission of harmful gases. It operates using clean, eco-friendly energy for propulsion.
