At the recent CIAO BELLA festival, Love The Mediterranean had the opportunity to collaborate with Hadas Kids in creating a space focused on social impact and environmental awareness for children. This special corner, designed for festival-goers to enjoy educational activities with their children, became a highlight of the event, offering a unique and meaningful experience for all participants.
A Space Dedicated to Awareness and Entertainment
The foundation prepared an area with various elements for the children's enjoyment and learning. Among these were a face-painting station, an obstacle course, and several inflatable attractions, designed to provide entertainment while encouraging interaction and physical activity. However, the collaboration with Love The Mediterranean added a unique educational and environmental dimension to the space.
The Balearic Coastal Biodiversity Cube: An Educational and Fun Experience
Love The Mediterranean contributed the "Balearic Coastal Biodiversity Cube" to the Hadas Kids corner, an experiential cube where children could paint various species of fauna that inhabit the coasts of the Balearic Islands. This cube not only provided a creative activity for the children but also served as an educational tool to teach them about the importance of local marine biodiversity.
Sustainable Construction and Circular Economy
The construction of the Biodiversity Cube was a collaborative effort that adhered to principles of sustainability and the circular economy. The cube was built using leftover materials provided by Naybor, a partner of the initiative and the foundation responsible for its construction. Pallets were used for the base, along with wood from other productions and printing supports, all under circular economy criteria, minimizing environmental impact and promoting recycling.
Learning Through Play: The Importance of Protecting Our Environment
One of the standout features of the Biodiversity Cube is that it allows children to learn while playing. As they painted different species like Posidonia, rays, or turtles, the opportunity was taken to explain the importance of protecting these species. Children were taught what to do if they encounter stranded or entangled marine animals, such as calling 112, and the need to avoid harmful practices like anchoring in protected areas.
Environmental Awareness from an Early Age
Additionally, the children were informed about how climate change affects these species and what actions they can take to help protect the environment. This activity not only fostered creativity and interest in nature among the young but also promoted an important message of conservation and respect for our natural surroundings.
The collaboration between Love The Mediterranean and Hadas Kids at the CIAO BELLA Festival was a great success, providing an educational and entertaining space for children while promoting environmental awareness and the importance of protecting marine biodiversity. This initiative demonstrates how the combination of creativity, education, and sustainability can have a positive impact on new generations, inspiring them to care for our planet from an early age.
