Presentation of the 5th Edition of the Audiovisual Contest for the Conservation of the Balearic Sea

On June 11, the Love the Mediterranean team attended the presentation of the 5th edition of the Audiovisual Contest for the Conservation of the Balearic Sea. The event took place in Port Adriano, where those responsible for the initiative explained its purpose, explained the different categories and presented the new modalities.

MARE, the audiovisual contest for the conservation of the Balearic Sea, is ready for its fifth edition, which invites photographers to portray the beauty of the sea to promote its protection. This edition will again have three participation profiles: expert, amateur and youth, the latter for children under 16 years. In addition, the 'Mare Popularis' category will be maintained, in which the public can vote for the winning image.

Categories of the Contest

Expert and amateur participants will be able to submit their photographs in the following six categories:

1. MARE Animalia: Images that highlight the personality of marine animals in their environment.

MARE Botanica: Images that show the importance of a plant species in its environment.

3. MARE Sapiens: Images showing the positive relationship between the sea and people.

4. MARE Denuntiare: Images that show the negative side of the relationship between humans and the sea.

5. MARE NOSTRUM: Images about the Mediterranean Sea made both in and out of the water, explaining spectacular stories.

6. MARE Popularis: Audience Award.

Honorable Mentions

In addition, six honorable mentions will be awarded, three for Marine Protected Spaces and three for Water Quality. As a novelty, the contest includes a new honorable mention dedicated to the quality of our waters.

Visit to the National Marine Park

After the presentation a boxing was scheduled for the attendees, the groups were divided between the most experienced divers and the most novice ones. In addition, Love the Mediterranean was able to contribute to the outing with the BlueCircle, a 100% electric boat designed for outings in areas of high ecological value.

Participation and deadlines

The rules of the contest are available at marebalear.org. Images can be submitted between July 1 and September 15. Some members of the Love the Med and TrueWorld team joined in a dive to photograph the poster underwater.

This contest is a unique opportunity to highlight the beauty and challenges of the Balearic Sea, inviting everyone to contribute with their art to the conservation of this invaluable natural resource.
