Sailing Sustainably to Watch the Palma Superyacht Cup

Last June 22nd, we had the opportunity to live a unique experience aboard the @catamaranbluecircle, the first zero-emission electric-powered tourist boat in the Balearic Islands. This collaboration between Love the Mediterranean and BlueCircle represents an important step towards a more sustainable tourism, offering a way to enjoy the sea with minimal environmental impact.

Superyacht Cup Palma

The Superyacht Cup, held every June, attracts a wide variety of superyachts and crews from around the world, from racing superyachts to classic and family cruising yachts. This year, the regatta featured 40-meter J-Class sailboats such as Svea, Rainbow and Velsheda, and the impressive 60-meter Maximus.

The event consists of three days of racing combined with fun social events each afternoon/evening, and a special dinner for owners.

The regattas are held under the International Superyacht Rule (ISYR) and are organized by the Real Club Náutico de Palma (RCNP). The Palma Superyacht Cup is the oldest superyacht regatta in Europe and one of the highlights of the annual superyacht calendar, attracting the entire fleet, including those who simply enjoy the pleasure of participating without expectations of winning their class or the Cup itself.

During the departure on the 100% electric catamaran, we were able to witness the @thesuperyachtcuppalma. Accompanied by visitors, nautical stakeholders and @lovethemediterranean, collaborators, we shared a day in which sustainability and environmental awareness were the protagonists.

A Nautical Experience with Minimal Environmental Impact

The BlueCircle is an innovative vessel, not only for its zero-emission technology, but also for its commitment to protecting the marine environment. This type of experience not only allows us to enjoy the Mediterranean, but also to better understand the importance of reducing emissions in the tourism sector.

To understand and minimize the impacts of our activities, it is essential to measure them. In collaboration with TrueWorld, we calculate the impacts generated by the outing attendees' travel. This analysis helps us to inform visitors about the effects of their mobility and to find ways to reduce our ecological footprint.

Informing and Raising Visitor Awareness

During the outing, we took the opportunity to inform visitors about the importance of sustainability in tourism. Thanks to the BlueCircle catamaran, we demonstrated that it is possible to enjoy tourism activities without compromising the environment.

This event allowed us to educate attendees about the environmental impacts of their travel and how they can contribute to reducing them. The collaboration between @lovethemediterranean and BlueCircle is an example of how innovation can facilitate more responsible tourism.

A Departure with a Positive Impact

Our commitment to the environment was reflected in every detail of the day. From planning to execution, every step was thought out to maximize the positive impact and minimize any environmental damage. The use of the emission-free BlueCircle catamaran demonstrates what can be achieved when we combine technology and environmental awareness.

The BlueCircle outing was an opportunity to enjoy and learn. We amplified the message about the importance of reducing emissions in the tourism sector and showed how tourism activities can be enjoyed in a sustainable way.

The trip on the @catamaranbluecircle was more than just a trip out to sea; it was an opportunity to learn and raise awareness about sustainability in nautical tourism. We thank all the participants and collaborators who made this experience possible and we look forward to continue sailing together towards a cleaner and healthier Mediterranean.

Join us on this exciting journey and be part of the change towards a greener and more respectful tourism with our beautiful planet. ♻️ 🌊
