On April 7th, the Mediterranean shone with its own light. As part of the Social and Environmental Impact Conference promoted by Marina Ibiza, a group of young people experienced their first approach to the world of sailing aboard the Galaxie, a unique boat for its technological innovation and respect for the environment.
More than just a trip to sea, the day was an educational, exciting and transformative experience. Accompanied by the Love the Mediterranean team and the captain of the Galaxie, the young people became sailors for a day, discovering the secrets of navigation and caring for the sea from the inside.
The Galaxie: a ship that makes a difference
Before setting sail, the group got to know the Galaxie inside out: an electric-powered sailboat designed to minimize its footprint on the marine environment. They learned how the silent propulsion system works, how energy is managed on board, and why it is important to move towards more sustainable forms of sailing. This first encounter with innovation sparked questions, interest, and admiration.

Discovering the art of maneuvering
During the voyage, the young people observed and participated in basic maneuvers, understanding how movements are coordinated on deck and how each action influences the ship's course. It was a direct and fun way to discover the teamwork required for life on board.
The logic of the wind
In the middle of the sea, they felt the wind in their faces and felt how the sails capture the energy of the wind to move the boat, without the need for engines. They learned why the orientation, the strength of the wind and the position of the sails are key in sailing. It was an experiential approach to this ancient dance between nature and technique that characterizes the world of sailing.

Taking the helm
One of the most special moments was being able to try the helm, guided by the captain. They discovered how the ship responds to every small turn and what it means to steer, even if only for a moment. For many, it was their first time feeling this mixture of responsibility, concentration and excitement of being in command.

A bath to end the day
The sea was calm and the sun was shining, so after sailing, the day ended with a swim in crystal clear waters. Laughter, games and jumping into the sea closed an unforgettable day, where marine education was lived from joy, discovery and respect.

Thanks to Marina Eivissa, the promoter of this initiative, and to all the people who made it possible. And, of course, thanks to the Galaxie team for bringing the world of sailing and sustainable innovation closer to new eyes, new hands and new generations.
