For this year's regatta, AlcudiaMar Port & Botel committed to neutralizing the event, implementing decarbonization strategies, and offering awareness and environmental action activities.
Cleanwave Foundation conducted a citizen science workshop using the Observadores del Mar methodology to analyze waste density per square meter.
MdF brought marine sports closer through activities such as kayaking, snorkeling, or paddle surfing, and provided sheets to identify local species with the youth from Project Home.
Palma Aquarium presented the Magic of the Sea, an interactive game revealing the wonders and threats beneath the waves.
We joined the national initiative by Ecoembes and SEOBirdLife, Unidos contra la Basuraleza (Waste in Nature), to conduct a beach cleanup.
In addition to workshops and activities to identify waste and marine species, the strategy for the Alcudiamar regatta did not want to ignore the little ones who were left on land. For this, the construction of a “paint and color” cube was carried out but with a clear message linked to the sea.
Finally, we wanted to contribute to environmental action at the national level and we added one of the days to a waste collection activity aligned with the Ecoembes and SEOBirdLife platform, “Basuraleza”, to carry out a beach cleanup. Subsequently, photos were sent and the waste was identified and classified with specific citizen science procedure, giving a short talk about its impact and duration in the natural environment.
